When you receive a wrinkled and stained twenty dollar bill in your change with odd messages written on it...have you ever wondered where it has been and with whom? What stories hide behind the stains and the messages? This movie tells the intriguing tales behind the travels of one twenty dollar bill from its birth at the ATM to its dismemberment and ultimate cremation. To some people, a twenty dollar bill means the difference between life and death. To others, the twenty dollar bill is a symbol. A symbol of success to some and a symbol of defeat to others. This particular twenty dollar bill ends up with coffee stains, blood stains, cocaine residue, fish guts and a happy birthday message written on it and it ties a number of fascinating short stories together.
There is an incredible cast in this movie but I don't want to tell you who they are because part of the fun is recognizing the actors as they appear in these tales. The credits do not appear until the end. Don't cheat!
The screenplay for this movie was written in 1935 by Endre Bohem. More than half a century later, it was rewritten by his son, Leslie Bohem (who used to play bass for the rock group "Sparks"). Even though the script has obviously been updated (I don't think that they had convenience stores in 1935), it still retains the 'feel' of a 1930's movie.
As Angeline says..."There's luck and there's fate!"
