I love the exchange between Phyllis and Sharon ........ Phyllis forgets that she is telling Sharon to not do what Phyllis did to her.

I like Billy. I wonder who Jill would have Billy hook up with ---- I hope Lilly sticks with him ----- "Billy and Lilly".

I'm off for a camera day up at the butterfly conservatory ..... snow coming tonight.

Congrats to our young men who won the Jr. World Hockey Championship, 5th year in a row.

Have a good day, all ........ and stay safe.

My heary goes out to John and Kelly at the loss of their son...

The last several days have been very busy for me...and I really can't rememebr what all I did...that's insane!!!...routine stuff...cleaning, washing, church...going to Walmart and the grocery store...and gas is going back up...what's with that???

I swear if Tyra was exposing her puppies on friday I don't know what she was doing...I can't stand her story line...too much like the Devon situation played at a different angle...
Karen was beutiful in her wedding dress...IMO
The story of Chloe/Cane/Lily and Billy make me think of the Nick/Sharon /Jack and Phyllis story awhile back...who's baby is it...do I tell do I not tell...who can seduce who? and what will I get from it...too much for me....
It's monday and I'm in a foul modd...can ya tell...lololololol
Maybe it's because we have had rain for last several weeks and all this week too...lots of flood areas, mud slides...we need it I know but spread it out...BUT we are better off than poor Seattle folks...geesh
I'll go tweak my attitude after the show...(*_*)

Rain soup for supper tonight.... - Mon Jan 5 09:58:40 MST 2009
Hope you all had a very happy holiday and the beginnings of a wonderful new year.

Mary W: I think you have Scientology confused with Christian Science. Scientology is fine with anything medical, in fact, Jett was diagnosed when he was a child. They have issues with pyschiatry and drugging people for mental illness. I tend to agree. Anti-depressants are good if you are going through a particularily hard time. The excessive use of them only covers up symtoms. I especially don't think that children should be drugged for behavorial problems. Even mainstream science is unsure of autism, the diagnosis, its causes and treatments. Doctors would perscribe drugs, but parents have found that changing diet is much more effective. It would be wrong to blame Scientology for Jett's death. People of all religions lose children. Bottom line: This is a fact. The third...3rd...THIRD!!! leading cause of death is HOSPITAL ERROR. So, to be a responsible parent, it's not enough to just haul your kids to the doctor, it's important to do your own research. I would recommend to you, as a soon to be new mother, a big fat book called "The Baby Book" by William Sears, M.D. He also has a small book on vaccinations. My daughter has said "no" to a number of vaccinations, including the MMR (there is solid evidence that this is the cause of the huge increase of autism) for her baby and her pediatrician, who she loves and trusts has been fine with it. Sorry for going on and on and on...about this. I just think it is so important.

Wow, the John Travolta thing is tough. Scientologists don't believe in diagnosing diseases, and they also don't accept medical treatment for diseases. Jett may have had autism, had a history of seizures, and had some kind of neurological disease that was never medically diagnosed. Would their son have survived if they didn't practice Scientology?

Mary, what a nice story about John Travolta. I, of course, don't know him personally; but I believe he has to be one of the nicest people ever. I have loved him since "Welcome Back Kotter". I just don't understand the whole story. They last saw him Thursday evening going into the bathroom, yet he wasn't found until Friday morning. And supposedly he had a caretaker. He was 16 with a caretaker, which to me means he needed constant attention. It's just so sad. And you know all that Scientology crap will come up regarding this but the bottom line is John and Kelly have lost their son. So sad.
Frances
- Sat Jan 3 07:52:40 MST 2009
I just found a site online that stated that Jett who was 16 they think died after suffering a seizure and hitting his head in a bathroom at Travolta's home in the Bahamas. The article said that when he was 2 he had Kawasaki's disease that causes an enlargement of the blood vessels.

My heart goes out to his family tonight. They have a home here in Maine On Islesboro (island) where John flies the family in on their own plane. They live quietly and often spend Christmas at that home. I have always liked John ever since he appeared in a play at Lakewood Theater (not far from my home back in the late 70's). An older lady I talked on the CB with who worked there was late one evening to chat with me.The next time I talked with her she told me how a young man who could of had a date with any young girl he had wanted had instead delivered flowers to her and took her out to a local restaurant for dinner the night before and that was why I missed talking with her and his name was John Travolta. I always thought he had to have a wonderful heart because he made her feel so special.

Frances: Missed your birthday. Hope the new year brings you lots of love, luck and laughter.
So good to hear from Jammer. Need kko back on the board, too.

Can we do a little recap of Y & R 2008? What are your opinions? I'll add mine.

Best actress: I'd have too say "Nikki." Some very powerful scenes regarding David and Victor.
Best actor: Michael, hands down.
Best newcomer: Billy. This guy can act. It struck me one day when he had a one-word one line to deliver and just his tone of voice and facial expression spoke volumes.
Favorite storyline: The deaths of David Chow and Sabrina and that whole mess.
Still a favorite: Jill.
Who has grown on us: Chloe and Adam.
Who or what storyline would we boot: Olivia, Tyra, Anna.
Redundant player: JT.

Second day into the new year, I'm watching my new COPY of ....MAMA MIA now I can see it over and over when I need a fix. I know it isn't logical, but it makes me happy.

Glo doesn't get makeup or hair in jail huh?
I too am sooooo tired of Kevin and Jana's moronic BS.
Don't ya want to pinch Jill's head off? JILL IT IS YOUR MAMA.
How long will it take for Billy and Chloe to spill the beans? Can't imagine it will take years like it did for Lily.
Gee..the Abbot house is a little funky now, but I thought it was great design to make it SO UN ABBOTT. Much better than GLo's designs.
Surely it won't last long.
I want Nikki to get a real house. It is so tiresom and unreal for her to float around with her entire wardrobe from closet to closet. Holy closet organizer!!!! no one can do that well. Does she have people who deliver her daily clothing allowance from the Main holding closet somewhere in a big warehouse.
Same with Glo in the pool house. ABSURDITY to the max.

Happy Birthday FiFi (Frances) and thanks for the card, you dear girl.
MaryW -ITA with your assesment of Sharon's decorating faux paus.
The tree and decorations were SO wrong, and the color made we wince and flinch whenever I saw them. The sofa and those 3-D pillows from another planet are totally wrong for the Abbott Mansion. (Maybe that's why John is staying away.)

The storylines have been fast and furious huh? I'm amazed at the plot twists this batch of writers come up with, and mostly enjoy them all. But really now, there have been way to many of the main charaacter in and out of that Genoa City Jail. One goes in, one comes out, in out in out.
I know : "It's Only A Soap", but jeez, slow down abit, or get this town a few more lawyers.

Frances what an easy birthday you have to remember! Hope you have a great day.

Frances I've been trying to get AHP to send me their information packet for over a month now with no success....I'm hoping this isn't how they run their business overall?? I could have driven up to Fort Collins and gotten it myself by now! I wonder "what's up with that?"

Cactus, all charges were dropped against Victor once FBI and Heather interviewed Frank Ellis and realized they didn't have a leg to stand on for their case, with Frank potentially testifying that he forged diary. Heather dumped Adam, plans to prosecute him, and Adam is still in jail. Victor had a confrontation with Adam before he left jail in which he grabbed him by his shirt collar and angrily shouted "What kind of man are you?!" Jack has been interviewed but he's sticking to his story and so far it's all Adam taking the fall for it. He DID lose Sharon over the whole thing though.

Fireman I do the kiss at midnight but had never heard of the sticking the money down the bra! Hey I think I'll make my BF do that this year and bring that tradition back, sounds good to me I could use some cash! LOL

Peace and success to everyone in the new year. Nurse Connie we are embarking on two new adventures; motherhood for me and a new career for you, I'm sure we'll both do great.

Read the newspaper, late breakfast, talked to friends, and have to admit I was in my nightgown til around 6:00 and that is PM!!!! Did take a shower, cause no one could do that for me. LOL and then out for Mexican food. Aaagh.

Y&R - the 1989 show was a hoot.....big hair, oh yeah. Paul looks about the same, but my Jacko, yummy. Mrs C looks just a tad older. Fridays, hmmmm, all I can remember was Lauren being mean and nasty to Tracy.....just like she was in the 80's when they were both after Danny. Today's just saw about the first two minutes. Okay, flame me, flame me, regulars or lurkers, but if they pass that bucket around the coffee house one more time I will scream. Okay Okay, we give to charities, Salvation Army, food banks, humane society, etc etc. But it is our choice. I don't need someone dunning me for bucks while I'll trying to have a relaxing cup of coffee with friends or in an intense conversation.

Fireman - I have one resolution...and that is I don't do a resolution!! As for New Years Eve....we do something different every year. We can sit at home and Dan nods off after the ball drops, we go camping with friends, go to the club and listen to a band. This year we are doing the camping thing.

New years: What is each of your traditions for New Years? Stay home, watch a movie, go out to parties, have friends/family over, stay up and watch the ball drop or go to bed early? How many make New Years resolutions, and actually keep them, and what kind do you make? Mary and I, usually stay home, sometimes trying to stay awake to watch Times Square, New York, but end up, often, falling asleep in our chairs lol. As for resolutions, none are made, as they are seldom followed up on. I guess we can all dream right? Anyway, We hope, each and everyone of our chat room friends have a wonderful, safe and prosperous New Year! May the good lord watch over, each and everyone of you.

It think it was Eileen. And I gotta say, Jack was very nice looking back then. And Brad.......I think that was before he had his ears pinned back. His ears are WAY flat these days. Who else notices that? Okay, I am having a lazy day today. Going to do nothing but catch up on my magazine reading. I have a ton piled up.

Happy, Healthy New Year to everyone!

Didn't mind the cafe scenes. Glad Lilly is having feelings for someone else. Mrs C's fall will bring back her memory. What she wants to do with it is her decision. I think she might act like Marge, and spy on everyone, and see what they are up to. Just a guess.

KKO: Late offering you a birthday wish! I hope it was a happy day for you and that you had a chance to relax and enjoy the day. May you have many more!

Electrical fires: Please remember, if you have not done so, change the batteries in the smoke/heat detectors. Rule of thumb, when you change the clocks back or forward, change the batteries. Do not overload the electrical circuits with "electrical strips". Never wrap wires around itself as it causes it to overheat, keep wires away from other heat sources and PLEASE do not put live wax candles on the window sills. Inspect all electrical lights/wires for frayed or broken insulation each year before you use them.

Heat sources: NEVER use any petroleum fired, heat apparatus inside without a chimney or a lot of ventilation. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Little Coleman heaters seem harmless but are deadly.
Any questions about heating or electrical problems, please contact your local fire department.

This is my Christmas present to all my chat line friends!

Snow/cold: 18 plus inches last night, light fluffy snow,(the good kind), 2 deg. above and windy. Vacation Land is "Winter Wonder Land".

Cold: Jean, dress in layers. Put away the bikinis for a couple weeks, dig out the long johns LOL. Dorn the "Chester Greenwood" ear muffs. Catch a snowflake on your tongue. (hint) do not stick your tongue on a cold metal fence. Make snow angels and snuggle with the one you love. Life is good.

Merry Christmas to each and everyone!

Jack. AKA Fireman

Mary W ...... the Jetsons, yes. It reminds me of 2001, A Space Odyssey when the guy in the ship places a call to his daughter for her birthday. It is so easy for anyone who has Windows Vista ..... you just download the MSN Windows Live Messenger, register your live e-address, ie. "-------@live.ca." (live.ca if you're in Canada, live.co.uk if you're in England, etc.), and once you have your friends in your contacts list, you place the call to them and when they click on the symbol at the bottom of the screen, BINGO!! Up comes a split screen, with their webcam showing them to you both, ... and your webcam showing you and them ........ Because I have a laptop, I was walking around our house showing them the dogs, etc., and they were walking around showing me their three Xmas trees. It was so cool.

Well, today's show was sort of interesting, sort of. Adam doesn't portray contrition very well ............ Last shot was a slippery one.

Jean ...... new interested party nibbling at our listed townhouse. the other party asked to be informed if any new offers come in before they sell their house, so could be interesting. Maybe Santa will bring us an acceptable offer.

Frances and Jean ........... thank you both for that Christmas "throw";............. seeing as you both sent it to me at the same time, I can put one on top and one underneath ---
ha ha!!! I'll be the filling, whooooooooooooooeeeeeeee!!!!

Cactus ........ I haven't had any problems with Facebook, but Youtube incredibly slow with some of the videos .....

Nurse Connie ----- first time I haven't cooked either turkey or ham since 1974. -------- we're seeing Jewel & "Johnny" (her beau) for lunch at our house on the 25th, then they're going to his family's for dinner: (a big Irish catholic family get-together: how could I deny Jewel the pleasure of that?!!) ......... Too far now to drive to my brother's and back in one day -------- (after the dogs are gone, we'll go and get a hotel room overnight -------); so this year, for the first time EVER, we're having Xmas dinner with all the fixins at a restaurant ---- well, a little fancier than that: The Casablanca Inn & Winery, ...... we'll be eating in Bogey's Dining Room on the 8th floor, looking out across Lake Erie. No dishes, no work, just service extraordinaire; we're kind of looking forward to it. It will be a nice change, I think.

re Y & R ........... I, too, am tired of the face cream. I'm beginning to wish a few people had've used it.
I believe the money was hidden by River's daughter, "the one who croaks".
I'm fond of Heather ........ beauty AND brains. Not just another chick who either slept or was born into a successful career.

I lapsed into a bit of insanity today ---- went to a mall. Fortunately, only needed to buy some photo paper for my printer, and Grand & Toy isn't high up on shoppers' priorities this week, lol.
But the PARKING LOT!!!!!!!!!!! NUTS!!!! I'm now hibernating until we go out for dinner on Thursday.

I experienced my first webcam call on the weekend with my cousin in England; tonight I'm webcamming with my sister out on northern Vancouver Island, where she's visiting for Xmas ----- the more this catches on, the less we'll be making long distance phonecalls on a telephone. It's GReat!!!

Rene, Congratulations! Enjoy that wonderful gift he will grow so quickly. If you don't have a video camera get one! I wish I had owned one when mine were little. You would like from time to time to relive their child voices and giggles, the first steps and so on.

Snowing here in Maine it started about noon time. It is supposed to drop a lot of snow with possible sleet and ice, so it won't be good. Fireman is working and no doubt he will be busy with fender benders and hopefully nothing more serious.

We went to a friends home Friday night for a small party and yesterday to Fireman's sister's home for a small family party. Both were nice we also went to visit my brother in law in the veteran's home who is only in his early 60's with Alzheimer's. He has failed so much since I last saw him, it was hard to believe, he knew us for a minute or two and gave us hugs and a kiss when we left.

Fireman also has an aunt who has cancer and on Friday found out she only has about 4 months to live.

So my words to all of you, if there is someone you haven't seen or talked to for awhile for what ever the reason,or someone you know who is ill or shut in, visit them or call them, Christmas is the perfect time to do so and you just might make them a whole lot happier and yourself too. Now that is a "Real" gift!

Off to do some wrapping and baking.

Oh Rene, it's wonderful your little gift came early. He will be the hit of the holidays. How long can your daughter take off her job? Was she still working when he knocked on the door? Seems like lots of teachers work as long as they can. They sure planned this baby just right for the holiday break too. Teachers try to do that too!!!
Babies are soooo wonderful. I can just smell his sweet head when I think about him. Enjoy this little one and kiss him often.

The show is so dramatic right now. According to what we've gotten in spoiler info Ash is supposed to be around a while and eventually Vic and Nik get back together. But yesterday standing in line the soap mags say "it's the end of Victor." Gee Phyllis could get real mean if Nick and Sharon pair off again. They are making Sharon look too needy I'm thinking. Where is Ash and Victor's little girl? Will she be home from boarding school in England for the holidays? Did Olivia say her son is in medical school? I'm thinking they might bring Mrs. C to her senses by Christmas, and surely they'll have the little girl back from the foster home...at Neils. Will Tyra dn Neil's squeeze ever have an cat fight?

You poor little popsicles back east. Brrr. Take care of yourselves.

I, too, was wondering about Jack. Why is Adam so taking the fall when Jack is not only the instigator, but dictated the diary? Can't imagine Jack, Victor, Adam and Glo all in jail at the same time.

I have a hunch that Katherine will get her memory back just in time for Christmas and make an appearance at the mansion, with Murphy in tow. This is not a spoiler, just my feeling. It would make for a great Christmas Day. When she does get back to the mansion, I think she will have Murphy move in, much to Jill's chagrin. She forgets she has come a long way since her manicurist days. Not that there's anything wrong with doing nails, mind you, but her life style, of course, was much different.

STILL icicles in Alberta - Sat Dec 20 09:48:45 MST 2008
Nurse Connie I agree with you about Mickey, he looks wretched with all the family drama. He might well be heading for a breakdown, then they could spend months teaching us all about mental illness. Truly, does he not deserve a breakdown. He has been on both sides of the law forever now and everything will come home to roost!!

Jean: you are absolutely right about the next villan. Victor Jr. plays an amazing villan IMO. A proper chip off the old block. I never liked him and Heather together, she is too wishy washy for me and I still can't stand that mole. It's the only thing you see when she talks, mind you I do a lot of lip reading so I might see it more than others....but don't they have make-up artists. I am not sorry she is leaving.

Seriously she just got the job back after major bungling of Victor Newmans case. Now she is choosing to nail her fiance (his son) instead of continuing to go after his dad again. Ahem!! CONFLICT OF INTEREST X2 or what. I laughed when her boss said "remind me never to get on the wrong side of you".... Dingbat!! you fired her before.

Mary W. I will be soooo glad to see the facecream story go. How they have done it with Jeffery seems a bit stupid though and what about him getting 'done' for all his blackmailing....surely our Glo will be very happy to paint his true colours to the jury.

NC. Glo obviously knows about the cream, So does Jeffery, Michael, Kevin, Lauren and of course Jeffery's brother, Glo's first husband....look what she did to him when he had the stroke. She well deserves to go to jail and stay there but of course that won't happen when you have a wonderful lawyer son like Michael. (How does he make any money spending his life defending his family). OF course if Mickey has a breakdown that gives Y&R room to bring some new legal blood on board.

Who is in Jail???? - Victor, Gloria, Adam and the forger.

Who should be going??? Jack, River, Lauren, Kevin, Michael, Jenna.

Gee they can have a Genoa City Jailhouse Christmas and Gina can make the food.

I'm not liking this bitterness storyline with Victor and Nicki...would be more believable if he hadn't already jumped into bed with Ashley.

Re: Brad leaving...don't think I mind. He seemed a much nicer person when he was a Hedgeclipper!!. As his positions have rose over the years his personality seems to have become too big for his body. (Another one that got away with murder(s).

I think we will see Mrs. C. marry Murphy ...he seems such a sweet man. I think she will get her memory back before that though and play along like she is still Marge to see if he likes her when she's poor...just hope it's not along drawn out thing.

Now the ring has been pawned we should take bets on how long it will be before it's traced to Mrs. C.

Y&R Christmas....how many of them can possible have a happy Christmas. Those that are in jail, those living fearfully of being caught and jailed, those on the run, those divorced or just separted, those whose families the system has torn apart...those worrying their fortunes might fall because of Glo and the cream..the list goes on.........that leaves the dog!!!! Wonder what he will have to say Christmas night when Santa gives him his voice for the night!!!!

OOOHHH one last thing, Hopefully now that John knows about Gloria he will start haunting her. I don't mind the visiting ghost but would like one with some UMPH!!

Re grilling burgers, we had such a wind storm here it toppled our large gas BBQ completely upside down, spilling out all the briquets. To fix now would necessitate wearing a ski-doo suit to avoid asphyxiation by Arctic air.

Tomorrow, some looking really good (note Phyl's hair colour), note Gloria, (OMG!), note Nikki's dress (no, no, no), note Nick's new hair-do. My ex-husband had EXACTLY that sweater in the 80's. Nick's look is early Jimmy Stewart.

I will be totally p.o.'d if they write Adam out of the show already. What was the point of bringing him back? He should stay on to be Victor's nemesis. Writing Heather out is okay with me, though.

Re teens' music, may not be our taste, but worry more about how LOUD it is and that they will be deaf by 18 ... seriously.

(how about Tyra and Ana, can they get on the bus too?). Now this is a Spoiler that is real (from TV quide). Brad did get the pink slip....Said Brad was pretty much trashed by the previous writing team, with him killing the Nazi with his thunder thighes. The columist also said that thank God for the rising of Y&R again after two horrifying years of unbearable crap. I'll second that one.

Cactus - I forgot about Stuart Brooks and Jill. And I remember he ended up marrying Jills mom. Now that is an EUUUUUU factor.

MaryB - Victoria was married to Ryan, I think. Later on, got pregnant by Cole. Nikki wanted Cole also, (another EUUUUUUU factor), but Cole ended up marrying Ashley. Neil was going to marry Victoria to give the baby a home, but she lost it. Then Ryan again...almost. Now JT. Don't remember anyone in between.

Wow, Jean, good advice. Glad Dan wasn't stuck with any of the costs. Identity theft is so prevalent now.

I am somewhat confused as it seems by some comments that some of you have already seen the Canadian show. Anyway, I think either the writing or the acting - or both - regarding Heather - sucks. She should have been more torn, not so ruthless. If she was driven by ambition, she would have stayed on Victor's case.

Doesn't JT always seem to be ignored by Victor? He speaks only to Victoria.

WTH is up with Jeffrey getting everyone to destroy Gloria? She definitely seems doomed this time.

Well, Well, Dan's company credit card got its number stolen. Well last month, he noticed an airline ticket to Spain charged to it.....well whoever IS in Spain now charging up a storm. Dan took a client out to lunch today and it was declined!! How embarrassing is that!! Cancelled it and they are getting him a new one. Had to be someone from a restaurant, hotel, plane ticket person. I monitor our personal cards constantly, but with company cards, that bill doesn't get looked at but once a month. ALWAYS WATCH YOUR ACCOUNTS!!! Also get your credit reports now and again too.

Music - let's see. Love everything from the roaring 20's music, to 40's big band, the 50's rock and roll, Elvis, Ricky Nelson, 60's Beatles, Monkees, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, 70's was a kinda hicup with the disco thing...but there was Fleetwood Mac, Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynard. 80's, God that was great!! Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen, Journey, Michael Jackson, etc, etc. (And Frances, Yes, MTV. We always had it on. Don't even have it programed on our remote now). 90's and on have lost me. I too wonder what I would listen to if I were a teen now.

With regards to lyrics, this is not a new problem. When I was in high school, an "old song" was playing at an after game dance. The priest who was chaperoning was newly here from Ireland. He went up to the recordplayer and took the record off, and said we" couldn't slow dance to nasty songs like that!!!!!" The song was TEACH ME TONIGHT. What about Barb Streisand and HE TOUCHED ME and the Pointer Sisters SLOW HAND? I think we are all attracted to artists and music too.

YR is pretty interesting these days. When they start moving the story along, I want them to go faster and faster and faster...

MaryBeth

Mary W: I love music and there isn't much I don't like...maybe heavy metal. My daughter liked the popular music of her day while a teenager (in the 90's) but she also loved the Beatles (she was named after one of their songs...a song that Paul McCartney has offered to sing at the Inauguration to the next first lady) oddly she also liked Cat Stevens and other 60's music. Now we both LOVE Coldplay. One of my best birthday gifts ever was when she took me to one of their concerts.

Y&R: If Michael takes a stand it has to be all or nothing. He's not going to turn River in for his crimes and then defend Gloria for hers. My feeling is that there's something more to the story with River. I also have a feeling that Jeffery is just pranking Gloria. But my "feelings" regarding Y&R don't have a good track record.

Regarding Katy Perry, the tune is definitely catchy, but the lyrics! Just stupid. But look at any of what's popular today. I always wonder what I would be into today if I were a teenager.......I think classic rock! LOLOL And remember MTV? My God, just a simple concept......play videos and have VJs......Martha Quinn, J.J.Jackson, etc. So simple and fun! I LOVED MTV. Used to watch for hours. Now there's just crap on it. Try to find a video playing on MTV........better yet, try to find a GOOD video playing on MTV! oh well....

I am not getting the whole River turn-around. Jean very good point, why didn't Michael turn the rest of his family in? I think it sucks that they went through all of that to say River was innocent only to turn around and turns out he is guilty. So....he did blow up the bank and he did kill the janitor? And he stole all the money from the vault? What about Glo's testimony, and what about that other guy saying the River was innocent??

Emelie yes, Katy Perry sings a song with those lyrics and it's popular, if you can believe it. Even Y&R had her on the cover of Restless Style, remember? Which I thought was a tacky tacky choice. In my opinion most music these days is tacky and I never listen to it, but I suppose, good luck keeping my future daughter away from it when she's of age.

I know it happens every generation--parents can't stand their kids' music and kids say oh god they're so old, but look at the difference in the music: First it was Elvis that shocked, then Beatles, Rolling Stones etc. that shocked, but now, the music is just bad!!

Rain here and there for next several days with temps in the upper 50's and low 40's at night. - Mon Dec 15 12:19:01 MST 2008
Y&R - Gosh, can't remember what I was going to say about Friday's show. Cactus - I think you are right that Adam is our next villan. Might be grooming him to take Victor's place in the future. Oh, now I remember, Victor laughing about Jack's addiction. A miracle, you never see Victor laugh out loud. Now can Jack come back to Jabot since he will be cleared of the facial cream crime??? That would piss Ashley off!!! I would like that.

Cactus - was it you that said something about we should set up a picture page like Marg did for Couch. I am not computer savy or I would do it. It would be great to have everyone that is posting to be on a page, maybe also have the pet page.

Frances and Toots - thanks for the recipes. Frances, your biscuits sound marvelous, BUT if there are than three or so ingredients in a recipe and a lot of work, my eyes glaze over and I put it back in the recipe holder. LOL

adb - Yes we loved the snow. We just stood with mouths open, as we watched it come down. Got more than an inch. But.....I wouldn't want to deal with it on a daily basis.

WE DID IT - we went and gave a tree a home...actually two. We got a noble fir for the house and put our crystal ornaments on it with white lights....and a tiny Charlie Brown tree by the front door. Also white lights and small silver balls. You all got me in the "reason for the season" mood. Thanks!!! I enjoyed it. Almost thru with Christmas cards, and Dan has all his stocking stuffers. I'm on a roll.

Weather - high 70's this last weekend, and today, we got wammied by your weather up north. In the 40's right now.

Gas - Filled up Friday, and it was $1.41 for regular unleaded. I put medium in my girl, and it was $1.51. I filled up for $23.45!!! WEPA

Later - Rump roast tonight

Toots: My mom passed a year and three months ago. She did a lot of knitting, crochetting and sewing. So I have piles of quilts, afgans, hats and scarves. Last winter it was hard to take it all out, my inclination was to keep it in winter storage forever. But I knew she had spent hours on it and would be really happy if it were being used. Now it actually gives me comfort to know that my mom is still taking care of me, keeping me warm.

Frances and NC: I make the "cracker stuff" with semi-sweet chocolate only...and nuts. My daughter made some with white chocolate and crushed candy cane....looks very festive. The graham cracker gave me an idea...first a layer of miniature marshmallows, then the chocolate = S'mores!! I'll leave that mess for someone else to try...LOL!! I'm sticking with original recipe and practically everyone I know is getting a bag for christmas. I got clear bags at Ben Franklin, a little smaller than a lunch bag, tie with gold ribbon, looks very elegant...like I bought it at a fancy candy store.

emelie........I have that saying on a plaque in my foyer! It's so true.

Toots.....Your posts made me sad, but please keep on posting!!! You know, one of my favorite Christmas decorations is really very silly....it's a wooden couple that hangs in my hallway and at Christmas I put a Santa hat on the man. The wooden couple used to hang in my dad's house, and if he were still alive, I wouldn't have it. Yet I love decorating it for Christmas. And (this may sound stupid when I put the Santa hat on the man, I say "You're my favorite decoration, but I would rather not have you." Am I making ANY sense? But Toots, I just want to let you know that I know a little bit of what you are feeling when you see those tools, etc.

MARY from Maine: I saw the news coverage of the devastating ice storm on TV. Sorry about your mom; some people seem to be a waste of space, don't they?
ladybug: I have read that the writers want to transform Adam into a "Michael Corleone." Basically a nice guy who turns ruthless. I want to see him get out of what's ahead, yet go on to go head-to-head with Victor on another day. I am getting a little tired of Victor always getting the upper hand.

Frozen in Alberta - Sat Dec 13 10:50:56 MST 2008
Sunny in a ice crystal covered Maine today. Many without power, my mom had a large branch take down her power and phone lines yesterday morning, still had power so the line was live right across the main highway. The fire dept had to stay there for several hours waiting for power company and finally had to leave because of other calls so they left the road closed signs and traffic cones to block it. My mom looked out to see a large pick up go flying right through the cones, even had them under his truck, that in turn pulled the meter box off the house so now instead of a simple hook up she has to pay a 250. 00 deductible to insurance to get it repaired. The guy never stopped and several other cars after that with baby on board window signs also went through. I just don't get people!

I laughed at Victor laughing about Jack's sex addiction!

Mary

Toots: Thanks for the recipe, it sounds delicious!! I make this thing every Christmas...it's pumpkin bread, baked in a 9" x 13" pan...I spread it with cream cheese and roll it up. It's really pretty when you slice it and it makes a nice Christmas gift. I'm going to make it this year using your spread. I think that will make it extra special and pretty. The pumpkin bread recipe I use has lots of eggs which makes it more elastic so it doesn't break when rolled...like jelly roll cake. ~~ I hope you get a sunny weekend!!

Frances: Your recipe sounded good too...I love biscotti...but, it has an ingredient that I don't have and you can't buy...PATIENCE!!

Cactus: I think Adam inherited the "I'm above the law" gene from Victor. He is digging himself deep, but, if he IS like Victor, he'll find a way out.

I've always thought that Gloria should pay for her crime...so I'm glad her time has come. Poor Michael...he sure got the short end of the stick in the parent department.

Cactus I think Chloe and I conceived very close to each other (June 19) and I'm due March 12, so yes I'm anxious to see if the writers will make her due at the right time. I'm bigger than Chloe right now, however, I was MUCH bigger than her before pregnancy!

adb I laughed when Victor laughed upon hearing of Jack's sex addiction, too.

I had also heard that Victor and Jack do not care much for each other in real life. I heard that they actually came to blows one time backstage!

i was going to write yesterday that i thought michael did not give lauren enough credit for getting gloria to the courtroom and that i had to laugh because it seemed to me that michael's father got quite effeminate while in prison and he was doing a bad job of acting

well i still think lauren deserved more credit, but michael's dad is a really really bad guy and his bad acting was probably pretty good acting considering he was plotting things all along

also today when victor started laughing when ashley told him that jack was a sex maniac or whatever, i started laughing too -- when i met the actress who plays esther she told me there is no love lost between the real people that play jack and victor -- and victor's laughing reminded me of that and also i think that's probably how all the actors wanted to react when jack "admitted" his problem --

N. CONNIE: It looks like Jeffrey is a villan after all. He turned in Gloria .. surprised me he went that far. Michael is upset it appears that his father isn't who he pretended to be. Lowell has instructed Eden to return to the Ashram with him. Victor came on as Mr. Nice to Heather, then turned on her with vile insults. He showed her the written confession he had obtained from the forger. It seems everyone is giving Adam a chance to save himself, but he needs meds, I guess, as he keeps thinking he will be free and clear. Ashley gave a great performance telling Jack what an ass he is and removing him from Jabot. Great line: Jack: something like, but I'll just stay in the back seat. Ashley: Jack, you aren't even in the car!
In your tomorrow's show, you will see that Tyra is beginning to show her true colours and the knives are out for Karen.

Obviously you are treasured by the staff at work. Must be such a bittersweet time for you.

Here's the Italian Biscuit recipe:

"Italian Biscuits"

3/4 cup oil
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon imitation butter flavor
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons anise seeds
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder (not baking soda!)

Mix oil and sugar together.
Beat in 1 egg at a time.
Add vanilla & butter flavor, mix well.
Add anise seeds
Sift flour & baking powder together (1 cup & 1 teaspoon at a time).
Then add a little at a time to the liquid mixture.
Oil your hands (because this stiff is STICKY!)
Make 3 long logs about 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" high in baking pan (I use glass baking pans. You may need more than one because it spreads when baking. You have to experiment with this.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Let cool some then cut on the diagonal into pieces (think biscotti).
Toast biscuits for 5 minutes. (I do this in the toaster oven. It takes a while because it's so small, but you can do it right back in the oven. You just want them a little crisp, but I like them softer.)

This recipe takes a lot of patience. So you may need to make a couple of batches until you get the hang of it, especially getting the logs right. Smaller is better, even it you make 5 instead of 3. And toasting them is not fun, I have to say!

Our lowest gas is about $1.67 I think. In Jersey it's a bit cheaper. Harry is off today. We have someone coming out to clean the furnace. OMG, our basement has Christmas boxes everywhere, I hope Harry cleared a path for him to the back part of the basement! Then we will go eat lunch somewhere........I'm thinking the local bookstore. They have excellent Shrimp Gumbo and omelets. It's raining out, so that sounds cozy, huh? Then we'll try to finish up some Christmas shopping. I'm almost finished. We will baking cookies all weekend. And I plan to post my recipe for Italian Biscuits. They are soooooooo yummy. I know you all would love them. All caught up on Y&R. Pretty good lately. Ashley said Abby would be home for Christmas. I was thinking she'd be competition for Noah, but remembered they are related.

I'm going to go spray the house with "Creamy Nutmeg" spray from Bath and Body Works while Harry is out at his chiropractor appointmnent. He hates when I spray that stuff, but it smells sooooooooo good! Anyway, I'm in charge of the house, so there! :)

Fireman was a dollar off on his price for a gallon of gas in our area, it is 1.73.

As far as how to get your boyfriend to watch Y & R, I have no idea other than the fact that Fireman started watching because he liked "his girl from Maine" Victoria Rowell.H knew I had watched it from it's first show and enjoyed the chat book so he started watching so he could post and know a little bit about what he was posting.Since then he has grown to love all you ladies on here and I think he likes watching a few of the ones on the show.

I remember my dad and grandfather used to watch "The Edge of Night". My dad would get home from his mail route and he and my grandfather would sit and watch the show, they liked the suspense of the murder stories that were often on it and the lawyer and police storylines.

I finally got most of my gifts wrapped and they are sitting in the living room(right in the way,as Fireman would say):), until we get our tree up and I get some distributed to neighbors, friends and relatives. I have a few decorations up, but this weekend I have to get the tree up and some of the other decorations up.

It is snowing in Maine today, roads are a bit slippery, sleet and freezing rain tonight.I wouldn't be suprised if there is no school in the morning in many Maine towns as this storm is supposed to be quite messy and the morning commute is expected to be bad, with powere outages probably.

And something ain't right about that tax bill to Eden. River put the Ashra (or what ever it is called..who cares) in her name? Something ain't right. Hmmmmmm Previews looked interesting.

Frances: I put chopped walnuts on my bark, but I'm sure it's great plain. Kind of reminds me of a Heath bar, but more delicate. My daughter likes to get creative so she's going to try different toppings, crushed candy cane, granola, sliced almonds.

MaryW: My choco-chips were right out of the fridge so they weren't melting. I put it back in the oven for a few minutes and it melted nicely, and like Frances, I just used the back of a spoon to spread it evenly.

adb and Fireman: Historically, the Christmas tree has nothing to do with Christmas. Decorating and putting lights on trees is part of the Winter Solstice ritual.

adb: Yes, the holiday wars...my best friend is Jewish and she was resentful of Christmas dominating the holiday season, until I pointed out that since Hanukkah is a sacred holiday, do they really want the word Hanukkah spread out at the top of a Walmart full page ad?? How sacred is that!! I used to work for a Jewish owned company yet they would always have Christmas parties. It wasn't a Hanukkah party because they didn't think that a lot of people getting drunk and acting like fools was a good way to celebrate their holiday!! I think that Christians in their attempt to force their holiday on everyone, have made Christmas generic and commercial. Just my opinion. (I can make comments about Christians because I was one for most of my life.)

Emelie: I have always loved Geography. Even now I can sit and look through an atlas for hours. Always hated and still do history. Hated science in school but now it's one of my primary interests. I like it because it's constantly changing. In fact, there's a professor in Toronto (York Univ??) Christopher Holmes. Have you heard of him? Do you think he's just plain crazy or that he makes some good points. I don't know...but I'm open to almost everything.

MaryW..........they melt on top. Spread them around with a wooden spoon or stick them back in the oven for a minute to melt them.

Jean....It was snowing there? How nice! I LOVE SNOW! Ollie can teach your dogs how to poop in the snow.....he's a pro! PMP

Okay, I am done decorating! Finally! I tried to decorate the tree in the family room the other afternoon while watching Bon Jovi's 10 top videos..........bad idea.........I got like 3 ornaments on the tree in an hour! LOL You can't watch Jon Bon Jovi and decorate at the same time.......he needs all of your attention. Damn, he's hot.......Think Santa can sneak him under my tree? But I want the 80's Bon Jovi.

One more thing--Frances are the chocolate chips supposed to be melted on top of the bark or do they just stay whole? I'm assuming they stick to the butter/sugar mixture?

Thanks

Nurse Connie, that is a very good question about Mrs. C's memory loss--I was just assuming it was amnesia from bump on the head from accident, but maybe her prior condition was exasperated. Also NC SEND ME YOUR PICS!

Jean I think a tree full of all your collected crystal decorations sounds beautiful.

Face cream issue needs to END--how long has it been?

Mary from Maine, how do I get my boyfriend to watch Y&R with me??

MaryW <Yes Billy, Chloe conceived in June, same month as me hee hee>

Yikes, OMG, holy molley, it is SNOWING here!!! Has been since around 5:00 today. I actually went out and took pictures!! Haven't seen snow in 20 some years!! The dogs did not know how to do business in this "stuff". But good thing, the temp was 78 yesterday, so the streets aren't collecting any of it, it melts.

Cactus - you crack me up...yeah I'm covered!!

Frances - I'm going to make the saltines this weekend, but hoping to find white choc to put on top. And yeah, I need all the prayers I can get. Oh, saw a documentary about Van Halen tonight, how they got together, etc. You would have loved it. And again, David Lee is NOT gay!!

adb - I love you have a theme for every cruise!!! I must think of one for the upcoming one in April. Hmm, regarding packing, well one cruise I went on just with friends and had FIVE suitcases!!!! Now I'm down to one. Well two, I smuggle beer, bottled water, scotch in the other one. Okay, Frances get your beads out....not supppose to do that.

Emelie - I know what you mean about leaving your pooches behind. Buffy is getting to the age to where I think I'm going to have someone stay at the house for our trip, not just a pet sitter that comes in a few times a day.

Later - seeing white tonight!!!

re Christmas -- i tried to have a tree in the house about thirty years ago, decorated it with much glee, then got a freaked out because i thought it was a slur against my parents and my heritage, so i made basyl put it in our front yard -- never tried it again -- i do (err, did) always help decorate the tree in whatever office i'm in

fireman, yes, basyl's is the 16th and mine is the 25th -- i have always loved Christmastime -- with the lights, carols, parties, gifts, and even the religious part is quite beautiful (i have gone to many a midnight mass -- even three in England) -- i just can't muster up the enthusiasm for decorating the inside of my house for it

basyl is an agnostic, so he does not care -- i do celebrate chanukah, but it is such a minor holiday in the Jewish tradition, here in America they try to make it comparable with Christmas, but it's not meant to be a big holiday

okay, i'm done for today, i promise --
